Silo-Weigh ™ solves challenging high capacity weighing application at Castle Hill Quarry
A high capacity Silo-Weigh™ system, installed by AV Technology Ltd (AVT) on two large limestone silos, is playing a vital operational role at Castle Hill Quarry in Cannington, Somerset. The two outdoor silos, with a combined capacity of 400 tonnes, are mounted on a common structure supported by six steel legs.

Unique approach to silo weighing ensures consistent supply of raw materials
Following a successful six month trial on a huge 30 metre high, 500 tonne soda ash silo at Pilkington’s Greengate flat glass manufacturing site , the company has opted to rent the Silo-Weigh system rather than purchase it. AVT provide full ongoing support, effectively charging them a modest monthly fee for an accurate 4-20 mA signal proportional to weight content.

Silo-Weigh succeeds where others fail in providing reliable weight data for Lafarge-Roofing
AV Technology’s innovative Silo-Weigh retrofit weighing system is playing an important stock management role at the Lafarge Roofing plant at Rassau, near Ebbw Vale in the heart of the Welsh Valleys. The system is being used to measure the weight of material in two 120 tonne crushed slate silos and a 60 tonne calcium carbonate silo.
