Silo-Weigh - bringing a fresh approach to silo weighing systems

AV Technology's Silo-Weigh System is a unique, cost effective and flexible retro-fit technology that has been successfully installed on silos since 1990. The concept is ideal for high capacity weighing applications where fitting standard load cells is either not possible or cost effective. It is also suitable for applications where traditional level measuring techniques do not give satifactory results.

Adapted for both steel and concrete silos, with options for leg and skirt supports, AVT's Silo-Weigh system uses specially developed "low-strain" techniques to accurately measure strain levels in existing silo supports with an overall system accuracy of typically 1% to 5% of full scale. It has been used successfully on multiple silo installations on integrated support structures where load cross-talk traditionally causes problems.

Monitoring options include:

  • Local Digital Display - At silo or in a nearby switch room
  • Remote Digital Display - In central control room connection
  • Electrical Signal (e.g. 4-20 mA)- To interface with your plant control system
  • Remote PC Monitoring - Via cable or GSM module

By knowing the contents of your silos at all times, you could benefit from improved inventory control. Silo-Weigh features offer the capabilities of:

  • On-line monitoring - to ensure the continuity of production.
  • Low-level alarms - to trigger the re-ordering of material
  • High-level alarms - to monitor filling oerations & prevent over filling.
  • Weighing in and weighing out (eg into vehicles)
  • Minimising stock levels - enabling "just in time" stock control and optimising deliveries

We offer full service and support for our systems. Using modem links to access applications we can monitor the Silo-Weigh system performance without the need for unnecessary site visits.
